New Jersey's Mountain Creek Hosts 2 for 1 "Bring a Friend Learning Program During January
Vernon, NJ – January 2012…. Mountain Creek is pleased to announce a partnership with Burton Snowboards on new teaching programs for beginners, just in time for Learn to Ski & Snowboard Month (otherwise known as January!). The new learning programs, titled Experience Snowboarding & Go Skiing, take place exclusively at Mountain Creek’s new Ski and Snowboard Progression Center, part of the $20 million in renovations made to the resort this winter. In order to share their passion for snowsports with as many new participants as possible, Mountain Creek will be offering two-for-one ski and snowboard lift/lesson/rental packages midweek throughout the month of January, excluding holiday periods, for the price of $99.99.
Learn to Ski & Snowboard month is a nationwide initiative by the National Ski Areas Association (NSAA), which wants to encourage children and adults to learn either activity by taking lessons from professional instructors. Now in its fifth year, more than 300 resorts in 32 states offer special learning programs during January to help get more people to become active and enjoy the great outdoors during the winter months.
Experience Snowboarding & Go Skiing creates a learning environment for new participants that combine unique, intuitive terrain with new teaching methods that foster learning, not fear, in beginner participants. “Mountain Creek is the only resort in the nation to offer these new learning programs to the general public,” said Hugh Reynolds, a spokesperson for the resort.
Reynolds explained that, with Experience Snowboarding & Go Skiing, the standard ‘bunny slope’ has been replaced with feature-focused terrain developed by Mountain Creek, Burton and Snow Park Technologies, a recognized leader in snow terrain development. “By incorporating terrain assisted learning techniques that utilize snow banks, small rolling bumps and even a miniature half pipe (similar to a gently sloping gully), beginners will learn proper body positioning and progress their skills in an easier fashion than they would on a traditional slope,” he added.

Lessons Start When You Want Them, No Equipment Carrying Required!
·
Experience Snowboarding & Go Skiing begin with a visit to Mountain Creek’s state-of-the-art rental center, which uses an electronic system to simplify the paperwork process. The “carry free” rental center then transports the equipment to the slopes to make it for first timers and parents with multiple children to make their way onto the snow. Lessons begin when the participant arrives, rather than at a predetermined time. ·“This helps alleviate the stress and rush beginners may feel when trying to make it to the slopes for the first time,” said Reynolds.
“Snowboarding and skiing aren’t inherently hard to learn, but what can make them difficult is that people learn them the wrong way. This new program we’re doing with Burton will allow us to share our passion for snow sports and the world class features we have here at Mountain Creek in a way that has never been done before,” commented Joe Hession, General Manager and VP, Mountain Creek.
Mountain Creek is located 47 miles from the George Washington Bridge (NJ) and is accessible from points throughout eastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey and New York.
“Mountain Creek is poised to evolve the way new riders learn how to snowboard. With an interactive rental shop design and flow, a new lodge that encourages excitement of the sport and a terrain-based teaching system that speeds up the learning process, guests will engage more in the shop and out on-snow. Combine this with qualified snowboard instruction and the best learning specific snowboard gear in the world, experiencing snowboarding at Mountain Creek will be faster and easier then ever,” commented Jeff Boliba, Global Resort Director for Burton Snowboards.
