January 2018 - Friday, January 5, 2018 marks the official start of “Bring a Friend Weekend”(Jan. 5 – 7) and the 10th annual Learn to Ski and Snowboard Month. Since 2009, resorts throughout the U.S. have provided more than 870,000 beginner lessons to children and adults. The web site lists more than 140 Special Offers provided by nearly 100 resorts and resort association from 26 states. Others also are celebrating the month with affordable learning programs taught by trained instructors.

A number of special events are planned for Friday, January 5.

The organizers of Learn to Ski and Snowboard Month are staging a Facebook LIVE event from 10am-3pm EST

New Jersey’s Mountain Creek is celebrating with its Largest Lesson Day and it is free.

PA's Ski Shawnee, is offering 100 introductory Learn to Ski or Snowboard Packages for the value price of $29 each. All proceeds from this one day promotion will be donated to the Bushkill Outreach Program.

Massachusetts resorts are celebrating the kick off for the month with Learn to Ski and Snowboard Day, which was officially declared by the state’s governor.

The West Virginia Ski Areas Association holds a press event at Winterplace to promote what its resorts are doing for Learn to Ski and Snowboard Month.

Organizers for the month are staging a Facebook LIVE event on Friday featuring a number os ski areas and resorts that are offering special deals for beginners who want to learn the sports.

Anyone who helps someone sign up for lessons from a pro can take the Bring a Friend Challenge. It features prizes from top snow sports brands such as Head, Rossignol, Elan, Seirus, Zeal Optics, Mountain Sports Club and more. The Challenge is sponsored by the app SnoCru.
